"May you live all the days of your life." - Jonathan Swift
Today is the day many of us resolve to do better: act better, eat better, be better. But what if we’re exactly who we’re meant to be? What if we’re meant to have chocolate every now and then and not meant to chase ourselves around the block everyday?
Don’t get me wrong. If for health reasons, your doctor wants you to do those things, then do them. If not, and you’re just doing them because you get the feeling society wants you to, think about it. What if we all concentrated more on our quality of life, than on our bathroom scale?
Jonathan Swift lived hundreds of years ago. He said, “May you live all the days of your life.” That’s a resolution we should all make and keep on this day and everyday.
Let us take a moment for meditation…
May we care more about the depth of our soul than about the girth of our gut.
May we have friends and family who love us unconditionally.
And may we live all the days of our lives.
Let it be. So be it. And: Amen.
